US President Trump Warns: “End Discriminatory Digital Taxes or Face US Tariffs”

Trump warns nations against unfair levies targeting US tech firms

New Delhi: August 25, 2025

US President Donald J. Trump has delivered a stern warning to nations assessing levies or regulations that allegedly target American technology companies. In a statement posted on his Verity Social platform, Trump said that digital levies, digital request rules, and affiliated legislation unfairly harm US-grounded tech enterprises while giving overdue advantages to major Chinese pots.

Trump Calls for Fair Treatment of American Tech

Trump prompted all countries with similar programs to reverse them incontinently, stressing that his administration will defend American invention and businesses. He emphasized that the United States would no longer accept any discrimination against its technology companies.

“America Is Not the World’s Piggy Bank”

Reiterating his tough stance, Trump declared that the US would not continue as the world’s “piggy bank” or “doormat.” He warned that, unless discriminatory measures are removed, his administration will implement substantial additional tariffs on exports from those countries to the US. Additionally, he outlined plans to impose export restrictions on sensitive US technologies and semiconductor chips to safeguard American interests.

Possible Global Trade Implications

Trump’s remarks have triggered debate among economists and trade experts. While supporters argue that this strong position could protect American tech innovation, critics caution that it could escalate into global trade disputes and strain relations with allies who have implemented digital tax regimes in recent years.
