New Delhi: India celebrated its 77th Republic Day with full ceremonial splendour as the parade began at 10:30 AM on Kartavya Path, New Delhi.

President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag, and immediately after, the National Anthem echoed across the boulevard.

Soon after, a thunderous 21-gun salute rang out. The salute used indigenously developed 105 mm Light Field Guns, underlining India’s growing strength in home-built defence technology and self-reliance.

March-Past in Full Swing

By around 11:00 AM, the parade gathered full momentum. Contingents of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, paramilitary forces and the National Cadet Corps (NCC) marched past the saluting dais in disciplined and perfectly synchronised formations.

Meanwhile, the Army introduced its combat-ready “battle array formation” for the first time, showing troops and equipment in real battle order. This plan arranged troops and equipment in a realistic tactical sequence, closely resembling battlefield deployment.

Weapon Systems on Display

The military portion highlighted India’s contemporary weapons and domestic defensive capabilities.

Key systems on display included:

  • BrahMos cruise missiles
  • Akash air-defence systems
  • Arjun main battle tanks
  • Dhanush artillery guns
  • Suryastra rocket launchers

Together, these platforms reflected India’s rapidly advancing defence strength and technological self-reliance.

IAF Aerial Show Prepared

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force prepared for its mid-parade aerial segment.
The fly-past lineup included:

  • Rafale fighter jets
  • Su-30 MKI
  • MiG-29

  • Transport aircraft and helicopters

The aerial display was expected to culminate later with coordinated fighter-jet and helicopter formations.

Colourful Tableaux Roll Past

At the same time, about 30 tableaux from states, union territories, ministries and departments rolled down Kartavya Path.

Each tableau highlighted India’s cultural heritage, development journey and national priorities.

A major focus this year was “150 Years of Vande Mataram”, celebrating the national song and its historic role in inspiring India’s freedom struggle.

Unity in Diversity Theme

In addition, cultural performers from across the country added rhythm, colour and energy through music and dance routines.

The parade carried the central message of “Unity in Diversity” (Vividata Mein Ekta), reflecting India’s pluralism and shared national identity.

Gallantry Award Winners March

Meanwhile, Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra awardees marched proudly along the route. Their presence symbolised courage, sacrifice and lifelong service to the nation.

Multi-Layered Security in Place

To ensure safety, Delhi Police and other security agencies deployed multi-layered security across central Delhi.

The arrangements included:

  • Over 10,000 security personnel
  • AI-assisted surveillance systems
  • Thousands of CCTV cameras and security checkpoints
  • Authorities closely monitored the entire parade route throughout the event.

Traffic Curbs and Metro Services

To facilitate the parade, authorities closed or diverted major roads in central Delhi. At the same time, the Delhi Metro started services early in the morning to help spectators reach Kartavya Path and nearby viewing zones.

Cold Weather and Light Fog

Delhi experienced a cool January morning, with mild fog in certain locations during the early hours. However, sight gradually increased as the parade progressed.

Parade Duration About 90 Minutes

The main Republic Day parade was scheduled to last around 90 minutes. Events were scheduled to last until 11:30 AM-12:00 PM, with aerial fly-pasts and final ceremonial portions.

From a stunning military display to bright cultural performances and tremendous global symbolism, India’s 77th Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path highlighted both national pride and the country’s expanding international status.
