Former DGP-Ranked Officer R.K. Mishra Leads Peaceful Protest, Alleging Misuse of Power and Breakdown of Fairness in Election
November 6, 2025 , Darbhanga
The Jan Suraaj Party has expressed serious concern over alleged large-scale irregularities during the 83-Darbhanga Shehri Assembly election, accusing the local administration and police of collusion in manipulating the democratic process.
Senior party leader and former DGP-ranked officer Shri R.K. Mishra led a peaceful protest at the Darbhanga Police Station, condemning what he described as a collapse of neutrality and transparency in the conduct of the election.
In his statement, Shri Mishra said, “If the police can show such disregard and hostility towards a retired DGP-ranked officer, it reflects how ordinary citizens are being mistreated in this system. This is a grave threat to the spirit of democracy.”
He urged the Director General of Police, Bihar, to initiate strict action against those officers who, according to him, have abused their authority and failed to uphold impartiality.
Mishra further alleged that the Election Observer ignored repeated complaints, allowing blatant violations of the Model Code of Conduct to continue unchecked throughout the polling process.
Calling the episode a “dark chapter in democratic history,” the Jan Suraaj Party demanded immediate corrective measures, including:
- Urgent intervention by the Election Commission of India,
- Suspension and inquiry against the officials involved,
- Re-polling in the affected booths, and
- Public release of CCTV footage from all polling stations.
“This is not merely about one constituency,” Shri Mishra emphasized. “It is about safeguarding the very foundation and integrity of Indian democracy.”
