OPPO ColorOS 17 launches with Android 17, a new Fluid Design, AI features, performance upgrades and a rollout plan for OPPO, OnePlus and realme devices
New Delhi: OPPO has officially launched ColorOS 17 in China. The new operating system runs on Android 17 and brings major changes to the user interface, performance, artificial intelligence (AI), and cross-device connectivity.
OPPO has also announced a rollout schedule for several smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches from OPPO, OnePlus, and realme.
ColorOS 17 Gets a New Fluid Design
ColorOS 17 introduces a new Fluid Design that delivers smoother animations, faster touch response, and enhanced lighting effects across the interface.
OPPO has also added the Polar Light Engine to optimise app launches and system rendering. The company says the engine can cut app startup and runtime memory usage by up to 25 per cent and reduce rendering workload by up to 30 per cent.
OPPO has also upgraded its Tidal Engine to manage system resources according to users’ app usage patterns. The company claims that the technology can improve background app retention by up to 55.6 per cent.
OPPO also claims that ColorOS 17 can improve scrolling and loading speeds in third-party apps by up to 50 per cent. The system can also make app switching up to 15 per cent faster, according to the company.
AI Powers Several New Features
AI forms a major part of ColorOS 17, with OPPO integrating AI tools across several areas of the operating system.
The AI Photo Editor lets users remove unwanted objects, reduce motion blur, and adjust colours and tones in photos. Its Reference Image Replication feature can copy the colour, lighting, and skin tone of one image and apply those characteristics to another photo.
OPPO has also upgraded AI Notes. The feature can process audio, text, and images during meetings and organise the information into structured notes.
The new AI Memory Gallery can organise photos and turn them into stories or photo blogs, giving users another way to manage and present their images.
OPPO has also expanded the capabilities of its Xiaobu AI assistant. According to the company, Xiaobu supports more than 700 service scenarios and can help users with tasks such as travel planning, reminders, and other everyday activities.
However, several of these AI features currently target the Chinese market. OPPO has not yet confirmed whether all of them will reach global markets.
OnePlus and realme Devices Join the Rollout
OPPO will also extend ColorOS 17 to several OnePlus and realme devices in China.
The first major rollout will begin on October 8. OPPO plans to update the Find X9 series, while OnePlus will bring the software to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15T. The realme GT8 Pro series will also join the first batch.
The rollout will expand on October 16, when OPPO plans to update the Find X8 series and OnePlus will update the OnePlus 13 series. Several realme smartphones will also receive the software during this phase.
OPPO will continue the rollout across November and December, bringing ColorOS 17 to additional Find, Reno, K, OnePlus, and realme devices.
The company has also scheduled the update for some older foldable phones, including the OPPO Find N2 and Find N2 Flip, for the first quarter of 2027.
The complete schedule covers 112 devices, including 90 smartphones, 17 tablets, and five smartwatches across OPPO, OnePlus, and realme.
However, OPPO has announced these dates specifically for China. The company has not yet revealed the final ColorOS 17 rollout timeline for India and other global markets.
New OPPO Devices Will Run ColorOS 17
OPPO will launch the Find X10 series in China on September 22, and the new smartphones will run ColorOS 17 out of the box.
OnePlus will also introduce the OnePlus 16 with the new software, while OPPO plans to launch the Watch S2 with ColorOS 17.
The ColorOS 17 launch also comes as OnePlus moves towards deeper software integration with OPPO. OnePlus has announced plans to transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS with Android 17 on certain devices and in specific markets.
With ColorOS 17, OPPO combines a redesigned interface with AI-powered tools, performance improvements, and tighter integration across its device ecosystem. The company has detailed its China rollout, but users in India and other global markets will have to wait for official release dates.
