The Namo Bharat is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train tailored for RapidX (Regional Rapid Transit services), conceptualized by the esteemed French rolling stock manufacturer Alstom, headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana, with manufacturing operations situated in Savli, Gujarat.
Distinguished by its aerodynamic design, the train mitigates drag during transit. It is engineered for a maximum speed of 180 km/h (110 mph), albeit operating at a controlled speed of 160 km/h (99 mph).
Formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20, 2023, the trainset commenced active service, symbolizing a significant milestone in India’s transportation landscape.
Characterized by a stainless steel framework and an aerodynamically sculpted nose cone, the train epitomizes efficiency, particularly in reducing air resistance encountered at elevated speeds.
