During his field visit, DM Taranjot Singh hailed the Ramganj honeybee and biodiversity project as a transformative model for scientific agriculture, rural livelihoods, and ecological restoration in North Bihar.

Madhepura District Magistrate Shri Taranjot Singh, IAS conducted an on-site review of the ongoing Scientific Honey Bee Management and Biodiversity Restoration Project at Ramganj village in Kumarkhand Block. He described the initiative as a path-breaking step toward establishing a scientific honey production corridor and reviving North Bihar’s natural ecosystem.
The DM praised Ramalaya Foundation and its Earth & Forest social enterprise for their role in empowering rural communities with scientific knowledge and environmental consciousness. He acknowledged Prashant Kumar’s vision and dedication, noting that his efforts have helped reconnect villagers with nature while promoting sustainable income opportunities.
Appreciation for CSIR–NBRI’s Scientific Guidance
Shri Singh commended the scientific mentorship provided by CSIR–NBRI/NBRL Lucknow under the CSIR Floriculture Mission Phase-II.
He thanked Principal Scientists Dr. Bikarma Singh and Dr. Sushil Kumar for delivering high-quality training on pollination ecology, vegetation planning, scientific beekeeping methods, and ecological restoration practices.
The DM noted that their expertise has given the project a strong technical foundation.

Highlights from the DM’s On-Ground Interaction
During his field visit, the District Magistrate:
• Addressed trained farmers and distributed certificates
• Interacted with villagers to understand local expectations
• Inspected honeybee box installations and biodiversity zones
• Encouraged farmers to adopt scientific methods for sustainable income growth
He remarked that scientific beekeeping could open new livelihood avenues for the community.
Departments Directed to Work in Coordination
The DM instructed the Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest, KVK, Jeevika, and both Block and District Administration teams to extend full cooperation to the project.
He emphasised the need for inter-departmental coordination to ensure smooth and effective implementation.

Shri Taranjot Singh stated that Ramganj has the potential to evolve into one of North Bihar’s leading scientific honey production clusters and biodiversity hubs.
He assured complete administrative support for scaling the initiative in the coming months.
About the Project
The initiative is jointly driven by Ramalaya Foundation under its Earth & Forest Social Enterprise and CSIR–NBRI.
As part of the project:
- 40 farmers are receiving specialised scientific training
- 200 honeybee boxes are being developed as part of a structured apiculture model
- A biodiversity zone is being established to strengthen the ecological balance
The project aims to strengthen rural livelihoods while restoring the region’s natural environment.
