The Chavara Cultural Centre marked the fifth edition of Kristu Mahotsav 2025 with a vibrant celebration dedicated to cultural harmony, inclusion, and interfaith understanding. Over time, the event has evolved into a major platform that unites people from diverse communities—bringing together religious leaders, diplomats, artists, educators, children, and families to celebrate shared human values.

This year’s celebration saw the distinguished presence of the Honorable Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto, Bishop Stephen Fernandes, and ambassadors from Portugal, Malta, Timor-Leste, Peru, and Guatemala, among many others.

Delivering the welcome address, Rev. Dr. Fr. Roby Kannanchira CMI, Director of the Centre, emphasized that Kristu Mahotsav represents a movement grounded in compassion.
He shared, “This festival is not merely a cultural event—it is a space where every child is valued. The specially-abled and underprivileged are not our guests; they are the core of this celebration.”

His message highlighted the belief that Christmas extends beyond ritual, becoming a lived expression of dignity, care, and love.

Governor Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose launched his new book Kristu Mahotsav, adding a special significance to the occasion.
Speaking on the universal message of Christmas, he said, “Christmas inspires us to renew our faith through service and compassion. The specially-abled children remind us of our shared humanity and the unity that transcends all faiths.”

H.E. Reuben Gauci, Ambassador of Malta, said,

Mr. João Ribeiro de Almeida, Ambassador of Portugal, added,

Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto emphasized the moral responsibility of standing with those at the margins.
